Kaito Toba made his WorldSSP debut with the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda team in 2024 after several seasons in the MotoGP™ paddock. The Japanese rider won the Asia Talent Cup in 2014 and was fifth in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, with two wins, before moving to the CEV Moto3™ in 2015. He won at Valencia a year later on his way to fourth in the standings. One win in Moto3™, at the 2019 Qatar Grand Prix, was the highlight before Toba made the transition to World Supersport in 2024. His rookie season was slower than many had anticipated, while he showied glimpses of greatness like at Race 2 in Assen where he finished sixth, he struggled to consistently finish within the top 15 spots. His form improved however as the season went on, and now ahead of his second season with PETRONAS MIE Honda Racing Team, his luck may be beginning to turn.
