Born in Yamanashi (Japan) 26 years ago, Watanabe was the winner of the MFJ All Japan Road Race Championship J-GP2 in 2012 and second in the 8 Hours of Suzuka in 2016; in addition to participating in the Moto2™ World Championship in 2010. The Japanese rider has signed with Team Kawasaki Go Eleven for 2017, accompanying Gino Rea in the FIM Supersport World Championship as they both take on a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R. Watanabe has a big challenge ahead of him, as he will have to learn many of the circuits of the calendar, well as begin to understand his rivals in the category.
