Sam Lowes remains in familiar surroundings for 2024 as both he and his Elf Marc VDS Racing Team squad join WorldSBK for the first time, but they do have years of experience working together from the Brit’s time in Moto2™. It’s also a return to the paddock for the 2013 World Supersport Champion as he gets ready for his WorldSBK debut.
Lowes – who will run the #14 this year as opposed to his usual #22, which is taken by twin brother Alex – has a decade of experience from the MotoGP™ paddock to bring to WorldSBK. His first win came in Moto2™ in 2015 before two more followed the next year. Two strong seasons earnt him a MotoGP™ seat but this only lasted a year, before a return to Moto2™.
The 2020 and 2021 seasons would provide to be Lowes’ best as he fought for the title in the former and was fourth in the latter. An injury-hit 2022 campaign meant he finished with just two podiums to his name, before returning to the top step in his final Moto2™ season ahead of his WorldSBK switch.
